UX Design and Consulting

What is UX Design?

A website is more than just a pretty (inter)face.

User experience design—or UX design—ensures that your website, mobile app, database, or program is easy to use, navigate, and understand.

How does user experience design work?

The UX design process starts with the end goal in mind—considering how visitors will move through your system, website, or application and how they might be thinking, feeling, and acting throughout the process.

Every detail is considered and serves a purpose. Choosing the right button, the right colour or shade for the button, and putting it in the right place all contribute to a streamlined experience for your users.

Why User Experience Matters

Builds Relationships

Proper UX design ensures that users who visit your website can find the information or perform the action you want them to—meaning you can convert the sale, provide correct information, and build lasting relationships with satisfied users.

Always Applicable

All projects can benefit from a user experience approach. From a touch screen network database in a hospital to a music app, any user interface needs to be designed for the end-user. We have worked on UX projects ranging from software applications to standalone user interfaces to touchscreen kiosks for airports.

Search Engine Optimized

When it comes to public-facing websites, whether you run a small professional services website or a large enterprise site, good UX design is an expectation from users and Google. UX design ensures you’re optimized for search engine ranking because Google loves user-friendly websites!

From Insight to Interaction: Our Approach to UX Design

UX Design Review and Audit

Our process starts with getting in the head of your users. Whether we’re designing a new web application from scratch, your current application has a poor user experience, or you’re not getting the results you want and don’t know why, we can facilitate the discovery and next steps to find the right solutions for you.

Usability audits allow us to make recommendations and share insights directly on screenshots of your current site so you can see where the pain points are occurring.

User Testing

If your website is complex, we recommend investing in usability testing. This process helps to catch problems before they become major issues. Through rapid customer feedback, we can validate design decisions and identify pain points.

For a new web application, we conduct usability testing at the wireframe stage. For an existing site or application, we conduct user testing to determine users’ needs and identify any bugs or roadblocks before redesign. We use tools that capture your users’ mouse movements and record audio and video. The testing can all be done from the comfort of your users’, clients’ or employees’ homes.

Tree Testing

If your website or app needs to communicate a significant amount of information, then tree testing may be a great option for you. Tree testing allows us to see how easily people can find the information they’re looking for on your website, and helps us identify exactly where they get lost. At the end of testing, we’ll have a proven information architecture, clear labels, and logical content that serves your audience exactly what they need, when they need it.
